Title: There's No Place Like Home
Characters: Max, Cindy, other fellow transgenics from TC.
Summary: There's no place like home, even if 'home' is a toxic hole in Seattle.
A/N: the ficlet takes place two years after FN, transgenics are "legit", which means they're tolerated more than accepted, but at least they’re left alone by the government. In my mind Max and Logan are still together – although the virus is still between them – but if you read hints at Alec/Max... let's just say that wouldn't be out of place either ;)
If this ficlet is any good it's all thanks to we_are_parallel and her awesomeness.
Spoilers: Post FN
Warnings: Character Death
Summary: Family was all that Max wanted, but what happens when all that she had left, she drove away?
A/N: Witten for the jam_pony_fic ficathon (I don't know if we're supposed to post them or not...?). For alyse, whose prompts were:
1. Max and Alec, first time. I'd like something slow and sweet, with the idea that first Max grows to trust him, then to care for him, and that the feeling is mutual.
2. Alec, Original Cindy and Joshua save the world! Preferably Max/Alec but I'll take gen :) Also, if you manage to get Normal saving the world alongside them it would entertain me muchly.
3. Joshua and Alec friendship fic, building on the idea that Joshua is the only one who really sees Alec. Again, preferably Max/Alec but it doesn't need to be in your face and can be gen if you'd prefer.
I think this is pretty angsty, I don't think it's exactly what she may have been hoping for, but hopefully you enjoy it anyways. Oh, and I chose to do a little bit of the first and third one. Unfortunately there's no smut here. There may be a rewrite in the future, but I'm just not in the right mood to write smut right now.
A/N 2: This is also in response to the Raising Hell prompt : "They say dreams are necessary to life."
Enjoy! Reviews are awesome too.
Author: Lexie Jayne
Genre: Character sketch
February Prompt: Season/Weather
Characters: Syl, Krit
Notes: A year off from DA writing and I randomly wrote this in celebration of having my account back. <3 Written for LJ’s jam_pony_fic monthly prompts. Xposted to lexiewrites.
Summary: She always liked the colour blue, too. The way the colour mottles over skin, eats away the colour of the flesh. It’s almost pretty.
Disclaimer: Property of James Cameron. I make no profit. In fact, I could do with some sort of employment at this point.
( I will follow you into the dark )
Rating: Safe for everyone as far as I'm concerned.
Pairing: Whisperings of Max/Logan, Max/Alec, and a surprise couple.
Spoilers: Uh, sometime in season two when Max meets Sam.
Warnings: Word count: 2861
Summary: After losing her family, Sam, Max's twin/clone, returns to Seattle to join the transgenics in Terminal City.
Disclaimer: I don't own them, just borrow them occasionally.
You look familiar, have we met? Yea. In a testube.
Pairing: Alec McDowell (X5-494) & Rachel Berrisford
Spoilers: Set during 'The Berrisford Agenda'
Warnings: A bit of romantic fluff, second person (Alec) point of view
Author's Note: Written for a present and jam_pony_ficJanuary Challenge, 'cold'.
Summary: She touches your hand and you don't shy away, pushing back nineteen years of instinct telling you to.
Characters/Pairings: Max/Alec, other Manticore alums, OC’s
Summary: A transgenic family moves in to TC. They were former Breeding Partners, and they're now raising their son together. Unlike Gem, the daddy didn't "desert" and they're one big happy transgenic family and Max starts to look at Alec differently.
Word Count: 2289
A/N: I fell in love with this idea at da_challenges. The five senses of sight, sound, touch, taste and smell are woven in deliberately. I’m sorry this is unbeta’d. Don’t know enough people in this fandom to ask yet. *wink*
Can be read as a stand alone but I plan a sequel.
Glass Half Full
Pairing/characters: Joshua gen
Summary: He didn't fall in love the first time. That came later.
Word count: 745
Timeline/spoilers: Set between "Hello, Goodbye" and "Dawg Day Afternoon."
Disclaimer: I don't own Dark Angel.
Notes: For the contest (prompt: "first time") if I haven't missed the deadline. Otherwise, just a fic. ;)
( The Plan is Pretty Wack )
Author- trolllogicfics (in other words, spastic_visions' evil alter ego)
Summary- Nine of Max’s firsts. For the contest.
Characters- Max with various season one cameos. Light ML.
Disclaimer- I do not own Dark Angel
Author’s note- A series of nine loosely connected 100 word drabbles. Bit of a weird style I know, but hey, that’s how I roll.
First Time For Everything
Fandom: Dark Angel
Paring: No real pairing. A little Max/Logan, and if you squint some Max/Alec, but that's it
Disclaimer: I do not own any of it. Though if I could have Alec I would be a happy girl. :P
Warning: not betaed.
Word Count: 2773
Author’s note: Okay I am just going to say this before you read because I had a really angry review after someone read this. I have NOTHING against Logan. I like the guy. I was going for a dramatic punch, nothing more. This is a bit angsty, so you are warned.
( Battle Worn )
Rating: I don't know, same as the show. PG, I guess.
Summary: And now it's over, just like that, before it had a chance to really begin.
And it's my fault.
Author's Notes: Written in Max's POV. Takes place immediately after the scene in Logan's apartment in Hello, Goodbye, right before Alec comes to join her on the Needle. For the "amnesia" prompt at jam_pony_fic
Inside I was a child
That could not mend a broken wing
Outside I looked for a way
To teach my heart to sing
And I'll remember the love that you gave me
Now that I'm standing on my own
I'll remember the way that you changed me
I learned to let go
Of the illusion that we can possess
I learned to let go
I travel in stillness
And I'll remember happiness

Just a quick reminder about this month's Contest - Life After the Bus Ride Out (Catchy, hm? I needed something to put on the banner). It's still open! The original closing date was to be November 30th, but as yet we've had no entries and November is NaNo WriMo month. What would the reaction be if we started setting the contests every other month? It would give people more time to write their entries at any rate. Comment and let me know! Or, y'know, e-mail me (clairebunny(at)gmail(dot)com) if you don't want everyone else to see!
Thank you for keeping this community alive while I've been drowning on my end - I really appreciate it. Can I just ask to make sure everyone tags their work. If you want a list of tags they can be found in the userinfo - and if you want another one adding, just let me know!
That's it for now, ficcers. I'm hoping to have the sign-up sheet for the ficathon up in a few days, so keep an eye out!
Now, back to work! Bip bip bip!
Write the after story of someone who had to leave Seattle. So many characters were on for an episode and then sent on their way, usually on the bus? Do they have a good life? Do they ever encounter one of their transgenic friends again? Do they come back? This is wide open. Just make sure you have a character that was sent on their way in the series.
So there you go, chaps. What about Kendra? Hannah? Hell, even Herbal (although I privately believe he hitched a lift on the TARDIS and went back in time to live out the rest of his days with Bob Marley). Asha, maybe?
Entries will be due by November 30th, so get to work ficcers!
Bip bip bip!
Thanks to everyone who took part, either in writing or voting. Sorry this challenge seemed to be harder than the previous ones!
Now, to business...
( And the winner is... )
If you could e-mail me with the subject for the next entry by November 6th, that'd be great!
Just a quick reminder for the current contest - Unadulterated Loathing - is still open for entries until October 31st. We've got four entries now, but there are 92 of us! That's a bit feeble, chaps!
For those who don't know the process, a poll with links to all the fics will go up on November 1st for 3 days. The winner will be announced on November 4th and then they have until November 6th at the very latest to come up with the topic for the next contest and e-mail it to me. The sooner the better! As well as that, they will be presented with a nifty little banner that they can use wherever they see fit to pimp their work and general awesomeness.
Welcome to all new people, by the way! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to see this little community growing. I know I've been a bit absent lately, and I can make all the excuses in the world, but you guys don't really care, and I'm just pleased how well the comm's running without me.
In other news, I've been toying with the idea of a ficathon to try and really kickstart the rest of you sleepy ficcers out there.
Any other comments? Ideas?
That's all people, remember to enter the contest!
