Idea, if you don't mind my butting in.

In the current SPN timeline, things could go bad. So an angel jumps back in time and jumps SamnDean forward to aviod the death-deal-death-apocalypse situation. Which would leave YED alive and his plan going with Jake at the helm. Hense the new future with the Pulse.

Or something like that.
