What if... the 'apacolypse' is what triggers The Pulse??? Sam could either be extremely long lived due to the demon blood or he could just age normally and Max doesn't care about the age difference. To make it uncomplicated, you could have Dean go out in a blaze of glory and Sam hiding put at Bobby's off and on, in between jobs.
